About the Film

Lesbian Birthday Wishes is a short 20 minute documentary spotlighting lesbians from around the world, of all ages, interviewed on or near their birthday. Each shares their reflections on the past year and hopes for the one ahead.

They answer two simple but powerful questions:

  1.     What are the top three things you’ve learned this past year?

  2.     What are the top three things you wish for yourself or for the world in the year ahead?

This project captures personal moments that are also globally resonant—because birthdays are both intimate and universal.

Some reflections are a time of celebration. For others, reckoning. This film explores that emotional range through a distinctly lesbian lens.

With each interview set against a meaningful or iconic backdrop from their hometown, the film offers a mosaic of lesbian voices, lives, cultures, and hopes.

Why This Matters

  • Personal & Political: In a world still learning how to hear and hold queer voices, this project centers lesbians as wisdom keepers and witnesses of time.

  • Global & Local: From Cairo to Kansas, Paris to Perth—birthdays offer a shared framework for introspection and vision.

  • Simple & Profound: No costumes, no scripts—just honest, layered, beautiful answers to two timeless questions.

About the Creator

Created by Dr. Nadine, a storyteller, coach, and cultural worker devoted to amplifying voices from the margins. Her third book on coaching was released in 2023. Lesbian Birthday Wishes is her newest offering — a joyful, layered, queer archive in the making.

This film is independently produced and filmed mostly on mobile devices, supported by community spirit, and financed from personal funds and out-of-pocket love.
